SUMMARY:Nibi Water Walk & Feast
DESCRIPTION:Come together to walk in ceremony for the waters under threat from the Line 5 pipeline. Information about protocols for the walk will be shared during the Friday night orientation. One protocol is that women should wear long skirts during the walk (non-binary/transgender/two-spirit people may choose what their roles are–you belong too!). We are also working to secure a spot for group camping Friday night near Mellen. Please RSVP to receive more information as logistics are finalized for the events.  \n7:15am start in Mellen – Need to attend orientation. SUMMARY:Bad River Watershed Bioblitz
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the month of August in observing as many species in the Bad River Watershed as we can! We are especially interested in surveying for threatened\, endangered\, and nonlocal beings. We are most interested in observations of these species along waterways *one quarter mile upstream* and *two miles downstream* of the proposed reroute. However\, we are not looking to observe species on any Bad River Reservation lands. \nTo submit observations\, check out our iNaturalist event\, where you can also see a map of the area of interest. SUMMARY:Species Surveying & Community Float
DESCRIPTION:Last month’s gathering included learning about how to help survey the proposed Line 5 reroute areas for threatened\, endangered\, and non-native species. As a follow-up\, some folks are organizing a Community Float event on Saturday\, July 26th on one of the waterways that would be affected by the reroute project within the Bad River watershed. There will also be fliers for going door-to-door canvassing to folks who live along the construction corridor and along the rivers we hope to float survey on.
